Kappa league signing day

MONTCLAIR KAPPA LEAGUERS RECEIVE $12,000 in Scholarships at 7th Annual Signing Day!

On June 8th, 2018, the Montclair Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Incorporated hosted its annual Barry Harmon Sr. Montclair Kappa League banquet and signing day.  As parents, guardians, family members, friends and Brothers of this noble fraternity gathered at Bella Italia Ristorante in Orange, New Jersey, 7 senior members would announce their future plans after high school and express their journey and experience with the Montclair Kappa League.

Since the banquet was renamed after Barry Harmon Sr. who was a chartering member of the Montclair Alumni chapter, the Brothers have always honored the late Brother by inviting and presenting flowers to his lovely wife Diana.  She continues to be a phenomenal support to the program by donating to Montclair Alumni’s Kappa Guide Right and scholarship Fund every single year (pictured with graduating senior Kappa leaguers).  It was the most fitting beginning to an evening that brought joyful tears to family member’s eyes, laughter and radiant smiles.  This banquet is always filled to capacity and continues to be supported by even past Kappa League Alumni.  Dr. Michael Straker, Polemarch of Montclair Alumni impressively stated “It is amazing when you have young men that went through the program and experienced this very signing day and comeback to support the next graduating class!”.  The banquet’s energy and atmosphere truly epitomizes what the Kappa League is all about, ACHIEVEMENT!

This year’s keynote speaker Sam Whiteout who was an internet sensation and fellow member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc.  addressed the attendees with a most riveting message.  He encouraged the young graduates to recognize the events and affairs happening on campus or in the world that affect them and others and strive to be instrumental in changing it or creating something for all to embrace and enjoy.

The banquet celebrated all 7 seniors with their annual bowtie ceremony, signing of the Oath of Excellence and the presentation of $4000.00 each to 3 qualified graduating seniors (see picture below).  The Montclair Kappa League wishes the following seniors the best in their future endeavors:

Jalen Douglin- Kean University ($4000.00 recipient)
